Cotton Owens' 1962 Pontiac

Note from Mike:

"Here are pictures of my second foray into the whole darkside idea. It is a Cotton Owens Pontiac. 40 years before the cars of the Winston Cup series became the Aero pushing drones they are today there once was a series upon a time called NASCAR Grand-National which, as we all know, would evolve into Winston Cup.

Back then the cars were actually somewhat stock. Drivers didn't complain every five minutes to NASCAR about their spoilers, partially because they weren't there yet, and you could park a race car next to its corresponding street car and they would resemble each other.

Anyway, my car is a Cotton Owens Pontiac Catalina from 1962. The kit is an AMT Catalina. Thread wires and a Scratch built roll cage were tacked on and all the interior pieces were thrown into the extra parts bin. The exterior is painted in PlastiCote with no clear to look somewhat closer to what they actually looked like.

The decals are period in that the Pure and Air Lift decals are from the 60's thats right I used a cracked old sheet my Dad had left over from circ 1965. The numbers were cut from Vinyl for lettering. "
