Alan Kulwicki's 1992 HOOTER'S T-Bird

Note from Don:
"This car represents one of my all-time favorites. I was still reeling from the loss of Alan Kulwicki and wished that I could build a tribute car to him, yet had heard that Monogram pulled a planned release of the Hooters model after Alan's death on behalf of the estate. I was hanging around a model shop asking about an upcoming contest (not that my models are contest quality, but hey) when I ran across a set of aftermarket Hooters decals. Well, the bug was planted!

This box-stock Monogram kit was built in about 5 days for that model contest, where it took 3rd. (I still think I got the sentiment vote.)

Basic Testors white up top and Testors Competition Orange below the beltline. The tire lettering was taken from an AMT Coors Light kit.

But, the story doesn't end there. I'm a member of a group out here on the west coast of the US that restores and races retired Winston Cup cars. You can check us out at Historic Stock Car Racing Series (http://www.hscrs.com) for more info.

One of the cars in the group is a former Kulwicki Hooters T-Bird. I also hauled this car to Phoenix International Raceway where it was used in the filming of an independent movie called Dare to Dream: The Alan Kulwicki Story. The movie is slated for a limited release April 1, 2005, in conjunction with the 12th anniversary of Alan's death."
