Jeff Gordon's 1999 Show Car Trailer and Duallie! !!

Quote from Jay:
"...I've been wanting to do Jeff Gordon's showcar truck and trailer for some time. I started with the Revell '99 CK Silverado pick up and the AMT 3500 dually pick up kits. I lengthened the chassis on the 1500 truck so the dually bed would fit. Of course I also had to modify the driveshaft, shocks, exhaust system, etc. to make it work. I then filled in the existing "groove" on the dually bed and cut in a new one so it would line up with the cab.

I moved the gas tank opening, modified the tailgate so it would work on the dually bed, made some clearance lights, mirrors, the antenna, etc. When I painted it I painted it to give the impression of having a bed mat inside the bed. I then built the two "running boards" out of some "deck plate".

Next came the trailer. I used the Galaxie 32' gooseneck trailer for this part. This is a good kit. I noticed the wheels were not even close to what I needed so I put out a plea for help and Marc Cormier came through with some wheels for me. I then proceeded to modify the trailer into the shape of the Featherlite trailer. I also built the 5th wheel assembly and modified the landing gear and crank.

"Then I built a working ramp as it should be complete with "cables", "bumper pads", and ramp extensions. I also had to move the side door to where it should be. After all the modifications were made I proceeded to paint the trailer white and after it was dry I masked everything off and painted the proper parts aluminum.

The final step was making the decals and with my wife's help that turned out to be a fairly easy process.

There you have it, the Hendrick Motorsports/Jeff Gordon 99 Chevy 3500 Silverado dually pick up and Featherlite trailer. "
