Dale Earnhardt's 2000 Goodwrench/Peter Max Monte Carlo

"First thing I did was sand down the front valance and grill. Then I made several vertical cuts along the nose. I then pulled on the tabs out and used 2 part epoxy in-between the slats. Sanded it down, added putty, re-sanded, and so on.

I painted this car using Tamiya TS-47 Chrome Yellow. I used the JWTBM decals. This was my 1st true wrap decal job. Not too bad. Some of the decals weren't co-operative and some actually split on me (eg. back bumper). I cut a numbered piece, angled, off the sprue to make the roof cam. The antenna base was made from Styrene rod, drilled and used a piece of guitar string for the stem. I also used Styrene rods for the spoiler braces. I replaced the kit seat with one from an old Monogram kit to replicate the Mustang style seat Dale used. For the dash details, I used black modeling wire and wrapped it around a pin to replicate the cord going from the steering wheel to the dash. JWTBM gauge decals were also used. I added my own Earnhardt bar for the dash using .080 Styrene rod and a piece of aluminum tubing for the fuel overflow. I cleared this car by adding 2 coats of Future floor wax.

I tried to replicate every detail on this car the best I could. I added the red pieces of tape to hold the hood pins down. I added the fluorescent red and GM decals for the jack points. For the front grill, I placed the grill decal down, then added the yellow decal overtop with the 2 little red tabs and it actually came out real nice and looks like the real thing. So basically what you see here is what Dale had on the car during the actual race. I guess my only real complaint about this decal sheet, is that I wish the roof and side #3's came separate from the side decals. The 3's are too high on the sides if you ask me.
