Bill Elliott's 1991 Coors Light Thunderbird

Comment from Jeff:
"Bill Elliott drove the #9 Melling owned Ford for the final time in 1991. The popular red #9 was replaced with blue and Coors Light adorned it for the 1991 season. He won just 1 race (Pepsi 400), captured 2 poles and finished 11th in the final points championship.

This build gave me a lot of problems. I think it was cursed from the start. It had to go through 3 baths of Castrol Super Clean before it finally turned out ok looking. I based this car and all it's decal placements from the 1991 Daytona 500 version. I even included the "Team NASCAR: Support Our Troops" decal on the A pillar.

Revell-Monogram donor kit. Painted the car with Tamiya TS-15 Blue and Krylon Fusion Gloss White. The main decals are the super rare Mooseworks which were brittle. I had to douse them with alot of Micro-Sol to get the decal to conform. As you can see, it didn't always work in my favor. I even coated the sheet twice with decal bonder before I applied. The hood decal turned out really crappy when I applied Micro-Sol under it (it slivered).

I drilled out the exhaust dumps. I lost the rear spoiler so I made my own out of styrene. The antenna is made from styrene rod and guitar string. The contingency decals are a mix of JNJ, Slixx, and the Powerslide 80's sheet and the tire decals are Slixx. Car was coated with 2 coats of Future. Overall, not really happy with this build but oh well."

(Dunno, Jeff - looks pretty good to me! - Mr N...)
