Note from Mr NASCAR:
"Matt did an excellent job chronicling this on Fred's Resin Workshop Forum. I have "harvested" most of the story and construction pics from there. To see the entire the entire original thread. click here."

Story from Matt:
"Mark was one of the first ASA drivers I met when I was a kid and I have been a big fan ever since.

I did the mods to the body much the way Steve (greengo on Fred's Forum - Mr N.) did on on his Jr. Hanley car and it will sit on an ASA cage. I have the bug to get this one finished now that I got it out again. I just put a coat of flat white on to see where I am at. Not too bad I have a crack where one of the t-tops were and I still need to add the fender flares but it looks good otherwise.

Did a little work on the fender flares and fixed a spot on the roof. The chassis is not the one for this car it is from one of my built models used for mock up.

I cut the posts basedon ... picture from stockcar mag, plus I brought the front of the roof down some. I plan to add the posts later. I think I am just going to paint them on the front window. A lot of the cars in this time frame had wrap around windows. Some sanctioning bodies made them add the post, but it was only for cosmetics.

I got a package in the mail form Fred last week with the wheels for this car; he did some custom work for me since the hubs he had on these wheels didn't quite match what the car had on it. Thanks again Fred.

I did a little more work on the body but it will be ready for paint soon. I also worked on the front grill openings. The jig you see under the car I made years ago, it's used for setting the ride height and mockup. The center part has two springs pushing the center plate up to the wing nuts which are used to set the height and rock the body if needed. Just a tip on the jig - if you make one make it about 2" wider than I did. Been wanting to make a new one myself but it's not something I think about till I go to use it.

Look what came in the mail Friday! Thanks, Rod, the decals look great and thanks, Les, for printing them too.

I have been working on this car trying to finish the body work. I almost forgot to cut the exhaust opening in the rh door; that would have been bad to find out when it was done, LOL! I also need to make a fuel fill port on the left rear. I know it doesn't look much different but it does have the gloss white on it now I also have the front intake scoop on it now it gives you a good idea of how long the front of these cars were.

I got the orange paint on the car today and it looks nice. I did mess up a little, I forgot to tape off the rockers they should be white but I just painted them white once the orange had dried.

Update, Greengo and his wife stopped by the other night He had some leftover screen that works great for the rear panels of these era cars, plus he also brought the Jr. Hanley model so I could see how he did the wind shield and rear spoiler. I must say the hand painting and body work he did on that thing is amazing to see. It was nice to meet Steve and his wife - they are good people I only hope I didn't keep them to long talking racing LOL. Anyway here is a shot with the rear bumper on and the screen just setting in the opening for now.

The wind shield is 1 of 3 that I made, the back window is 1 of 2, and the spoiler is the first of 2 . As much as I love the look of this car with the wraparound wind shield and big lexan spoiler they were not fun to make.

I didn't take any pics of the air cleaner assembly but I ran into some problems there. I set the motor in and the hood was an 1/8" high at the back I took material off the carb, motor mount,s air cleaner pan, and the bottom of the hood and I just got it to close and I mean "just"! I was cringing as I was working on the hood since it was finished on the top side. Luck was on my side and I tured out fine."
