KCSOS Monte Carlo

decals by 3 Amigos!

Note From Mike:
"The KCSOS Olds (Monte Carlo in this diecast) is one of twelve cars driven on a weekly basis by representatives from the various government agencies in Kern County, most of whom have never been in a race car. The series is called the 9-1-1 Race for Youth and is held at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, the track where Kevin Harvick began his racing career. The track is also the site where the first Craftsman truck was built and PJ Jones won the first-ever CTS race nearly ten years ago on July 24, 1994. Sadly, the track is also where Billy Vukovich III was killed in a pre-race practice session.

The cool thing about the cars is that they are all built and maintained by troubled youths at a place named Camp Erwin Owens, and youth correctional facility 40 miles east of Bakersfield. Hopefully, the exposure to racing will turn a few troubled lives around and who knows, a one-day NASCAR crew chief may be at Camp Owens right now!

The driver of the KCSOS Olds is a friend of mine, Rob McCombs. He is an operations supervisor for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools and also a friend of Kevin's (Harvick) dad, Mike."
