Donnie Allison's 1969 Ford Talledega

Comment from Patrick:
" This is the Polar Lights 1/24th scale of Donnie Allison's Sunny King Ford. A few notes about the car itself and the build:

The Car- There is no window net as this was the last year that NASCAR did not mandate driver side window netting. The reason why? Richard Petty was involved in a rollover during the year that nearly severed his left arm as it hung out the window. Result? Mandantory window neeting beginning in 1970. This was also one of the few years that Ford ran a competitive version of the Torino Talledega. The same chassis and a "slightly" modified body also ran in 1969-1970 as the Mercury Cyclone.

The Build- I always try to push my skills but this was a tricky build. The basic assembly goes well but there are issues about getting the 429 c.i. engine in the kit to fit in the engine bay (this was well documented in SAE). It was also my first time to use hood pins and hood hinges. If you want to have the hood open and use the hinges, it is not the easiest trick the first time you do it. Hopefully, I made all the mistakes this time!"
