Tom Milligan's/Bobby Allison's 1969 Chevelle - Pinecrest Speedway

decals by BULLRING GRAPHIX!

As Raced by Bobby in 1972:

Note from Rob (From Fred's Forum):
"Up until Bobby came up to race the Chevelle, Tom's cars were always Black and gold (ala Smokey Yunick). When Bobby was paid to come up and race, they didn't want him in a turd, so they repainted the bottom half red and gave him the Chevelle. (Milligan's cars from that day on were always red and gold) And starting at the back he put on a great show. Tom and Bobby became tight through this, and whenever Bobby came up to race, it was either in a Milligan car or at least one he set up. Apparently their driving styles were similar so it was a no brainer.

Tom and Bobby remain tight to this day, and whenever Milligan is headed down to Speedweeks he always drops to shoot the bull with Bobby. How cool is that? "yeah, was shooting the breeze with Bobby Allison the other day..."

An interesting fact, the Chevelle was the very first car Bobby every drove with power steering. He liked it, A LOT, and decided to fit all of his cars with it, even going as far as getting the front end settings, pittman and idler arm tips from Milligan along with the pulley and pump specifics. So, turns out power steering on race cars is a Canadian invention. You are welcome! The model chassis is a Monogram Lumina/Monte Carlo chassis; I shortened the wheelbase, scratched the upper roll cage, front and rear dash. Got some PPP wheels and tires for it."
