decals by BULLRING GRAPHIX!

The idea started with a '33 Chev Coupe body from Fred's Resin Workshop. The body looked good from the start but as a modified it had to have a couple of changes made to it. This started with the back window hogged out to approximate the shape and size opening seen in the reference pics I found on the car. I couldn't find a period Chevy chassis so I cheated and used the one in the latest Revell 32 Ford 5-window coupe. I used the cowl from the Ford mated to the hood with some shaping and narrowing. I also used the Ford radiator covering and grill after filing on it a little to give it more of a Chevy look. It is not perfect but it was close enough for a shelf model.

The engine is a small block Chevy from the parts box with a set of Fred's injectors and some straight pipes made from brass tubing.
I used the slicks from the 64 Fairlane Thunderbolt on the back and would have liked one more for the right front but made do with some other period slicks. The wheels are Fred's as well.
I mated a cage hoop out of the AMT Old Pro Nova kit with a similar front hoop bent out of Evergreen round rod and attached with more Evergreen to make a simple roll cage. The bumpers and side bars were scrounged and reworked from the 34 Ford Slammer modified kit.

The decals are a little tricky with the thin white pinstripes separating the colours but you just need to go slow and you should be okay. The stripes are doubled up on our Bullring sheet but I didn't double up the stripes. I did double up the rest of the decals and I put a coat of Future over the decals after they dried for a few days.
This was a big departure for me as I usually stick to full-fendered late models but I might just do another one or two of these. The original Alabama Gang did have a couple of other modified driving members after all."
